One, I am very very sorry I haven't posted lately. Life happened and apparently, boyfriends take up a lot of time. Who knew.
Two, really, I am sorry.
Three, I made an organizer for my earrings! I love earrings--I think they can be a bold piece of statement jewelry that can either complement an outfit or be the centerpiece. My favorite earrings are long dangly ones--the longer the better. I especially love it when the earrings go past my hair.
Long earrings with hooks, though, tend to get tangled with other long earrings with hooks.
Mess. |
I decided to just use a bulletin board instead of getting a frame, getting cork board, cutting cork board and fitting it to the frame. I poked around Goodwill for a used bulletin board but no luck. I ended up getting one from Target. Originally I wanted a board with a frame so I could paint the frame but again decided on the path with less steps--no frame = no need to paint.
I got fabric from Joann's and wrapped it around the board, securing it in place with hot glue. I also wrapped ribbon around the board for hanging on hook earrings. You could also get pushpins and hang earrings from that, but I felt the ribbon allowed for easier adjusting of earring placements.
As you can see from the bottom right photo, the ribbon is already sagging a little from the earrings, so I'll probably go back and staple the fabric/ribbon to the board to make sure it's all stable. My sister also suggested gluing buttons onto flat thumbtacks and using those to secure the ribbon--love that!

There! Done. Pretty. |
I was really happy with the way it turned out! I'll need to do another board for my necklaces--I'll probably use pushpins and hang the necklaces from there.
Update: Necklace board is up here!
